‘Vinosity’ is the immediate impression on the bouquet, and that can only be a good thing. Looking further there’s pithy citrus character, almost grapefruit, and a faint nuttiness. Fresh and buoyant in the mouth, the flavours are light, but in combination with the texture and acidity there’s no sense of it being wanting. The lemony twist on the finish is perfectly in tune.
The 2017 Arneis was rated 93 points in the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion…
‘Aromas of green pear seem to be quite pronounced with this release, and a touch of nuttiness, but mainly, there’s a sense of fresh, inviting vinosity when you put your nose in the glass. On the palate, the mouthfeel is a notable feature; viscosity combined with an almost lightly tannic astringency which is lingering and pleasantly drying. A terrific food wine.’
The 2018 Arneis has just been rated 95 points points in the 2020 Halliday Wine Companion..
‘Smells of a spring garden full of blossom and honeysuckle with yellow peach: it’s more aromatic than the variety usually dictates. The palate is bright with light fruit flavours, a hint of lemon and a really spicy almost gingery bite. Refreshing to the last drop. As good as it gets’
